Tadiran’s New High-Temperature Battery: Built for Extreme Environments

Tadiran’s latest innovation, the TLP-93211/HT, is specifically designed to work in high-temperature applications deployed in the most demanding of industries. According to Chen Menachem, VP of R&D at Tadiran Batteries, “Getting the right battery is crucial for applications in these particularly challenging environments, so for us it became a challenge of combining the right chemistry and cell construction. We’re pleased to see the extensive research and effort we’ve put into developing this battery come to fruition.”

The TLP-93211/HT includes the newly designed LiSOCl2 TL-3930 cell that features a robust stainless-steel enclosure and a bobbin-type construction, ensuring high safety and low self-discharge – but adds the innovative HLC-1530HT to deliver high pulse currents at temperatures up to 150°C.

High Energy Capacity

The TLP-93211HT features a nominal capacity of 16 Ah for its D-size cell, significantly outperforming more traditional spiral-wound cell designs that typically provide only 11 Ah. This improved capacity ensures longer operational life and reduces the need for frequent replacements in mission-critical systems.

Exceptional Power
With a continuous current capability of up to 200 mA and the ability to deliver 3A pulses, the battery is ready to handle high-power demands, providing stable performance even during power-intensive operations.

Low Self-Discharge

The battery features a low self-discharge rate at both room temperature and up to 150°C after extended exposure. This characteristic is crucial for applications requiring long-term reliability in extreme conditions.

No Passivation Issues

Unlike many other lithium batteries, the TLP-93211HT has no passivation problems during intermittent use. This guarantees instant power availability when needed, improving operational efficiency.

Constructed with a hermetically sealed, stainless steel enclosure, the TLP-93211HT delivers high reliability and safety. It is lightweight and designed to withstand the harshest conditions.
